Coach Prime’s Battle
Coach Prime held a press conference at 11:00 AM MST to discuss his health issues and the reasons for his absence from the team, and he returned to the team. CU trainer Lauren Askevold announced that Coach Prime had a tumor in his bladder, and Dr. Janet Kureja of UC Health added, “As a result of the surgery, he is cured from the cancer.” Coach Prime also stated he had not told his sons, Shilo or Sheduer Sanders, that he was battling bladder cancer, and that it was just another issue with his foot and the blood clots he dealt with from earlier. Coach Prime also said, “I was always going to coach. It was never my spirit, in my heart, that God wouldn’t let me coach again. I never thought like that.” Coach Prime became emotional when discussing his faith and how he has never wavered in his devotion to God. Deion Sanders Jr. stood by his father throughout the whole process. Coach also named a list of other players and people who stood by his side, including Travis Hunter, Pacman Jones, and Randy Moss. Coach Prime said that Randy Moss, who had battled bile duct cancer, called Coach Prime every other day to talk and pray for him. Coach also said, “I’m so thankful to be back in Boulder, Colorado, you have no idea.” Coach also encouraged everyone to get checked. Well Off Media creator Deion Sanders Jr. is releasing a video on his YouTube channel later today, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at his summer.
